During the Open House, guests will meet DCHS’s incoming principal, teachers, coaches, and students and discuss the school’s distinctive Christ-centered curriculum including Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Chemistry, Calculus, English Literature & Composition, and U.S. History as well as mission ministry opportunities offered during January’s exciting J-Term. The entire school will be open for informal tours of the finished student classrooms, the art and music rooms, as well as the 14,000 square foot Draper Family Foundation Gymnasium.

Through an agreement with the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA), and the desire of DCHS to partner with the local homeschool community, Delmarva Christian High School is now able to offer DIAA sanctioned sports at the varsity level in all of DCHS athletic programs to homeschool students.

In order to participate in this new homeschool initiative, students must make application to DCHS. An interview will follow, and upon acceptance, students will enroll in a minimum of one course for each of the fall and spring semesters. Although a portion of the student’s classes will be provided through DCHS and a portion through a homeschool program, the student will be considered a DCHS student, enrolled under the DCHS school code.

In addition to the benefit of playing sports, DCHS homeschool students will enjoy all the benefits and opportunities of DCHS full-time students. These benefits will include access to dual enrollment Christian colleges/universities enabling students to receive college credit while in high school, expert college/career counseling, graduation with the highest credit requirements in the state of Delaware, and learning alongside peers who have the highest average SAT scores in the county and a 93% Advance Placement pass rate.

Visitors will be greeted with a formal welcome by Principal Mr. Kemerling followed by student-led praise and worship. A tour of the art room, gymnasium, unfinished cafetorium areas, and finished academic wing will follow.

Teachers will be available to showcase curriculum and technology initiatives as well as answer questions. Students will present a mini J-Term showcase as they share their personal experiences in mission ministries, academic pursuits, and business internships.

The Open House will conclude with a discussion on student activities at DCHS and a question and answer session. All are welcome!

Christie Betts has been named All-State Honorable Mention in field hockey. She was voted as the third highest goal keeper in the State of Delaware. In addition to these honors, Christie has been invited to participate in the Florida Disney Field Hockey Showcase; a major tournament where she will be seen by D1, D2, and D3 recruiting coaches.

The Annual Setting the Standard Celebration provides guests the opportunity to help financially support the Student Scholarship Fund, meet members of the DCHS family, learn more about the school, and see DCHS students in action. This year marks the banquet’s tenth year.

What is the Swamp Stomp?

The Stomp consists of a 5K mud run full of obstacles and cool challenges. This event is a fun run based on a team concept. Teams of four will take on the Stomp with one goal…finish together. The entire principal of this event is “OVERCOMING OBSTACLES!” However, there is an individual class for those willing to take on the Stomp solo.

What do the organizers know about mud?

The Stomp will take place at the Home of the Gumboro Mud Bog. According to the organizers, “Making mud is not just mixing water and dirt…it’s artwork.” These “Masters of Mud” have designed a course that is not only muddy but a ton of FUN.

What else is there to know?

• This is a family fun event; therefore, no alcohol is allowed
• Participants in the 5K must be at least 14 years of age (Children 14-17 years of age must have a “Waiver for Minor” form signed and notarized).
• There will be a DASH 4 CASH MUD PIT CHALLENGE following the 5K for children aged 8-13. This challenge will provide children the opportunity to race through one of the pits for a cash prize.
• Team captains are responsible to get all team member waivers signed and submitted. All waivers must be mailed, faxed, or e-mailed by September 8, 2011. No exceptions.

The DELAWARE COMMUNITY APPRECIATION GROUP is a locally founded organization that is committed to assisting wounded warriors coming back from duty.  This organization is determined to help these heroes with life altering injuries live a successful life.  Proceeds from this event will directly go into the hands of these wounded heroes that have sacrificed for our freedom.

The DELMARVA CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL is becoming one of the premier high schools of our community.  They are dedicated to training, equipping, and challenging students for success.  DCHS students have the highest SAT scores in Sussex County, averaging 503 in math, 525 in critical reading, and 509 in writing with an average total score of 1537.  To date, the high school is still unfinished.  Proceeds from this event will assist with the next construction phase of the school.
