Read Missionary Patriarch: The True Story of John G. Paton.

Please write your own biography of John Paton in no fewer than five and no more than seven paragraphs.

Your biography may encompass Paton’s entire life, or it may address one period of his life, such as his youth, his ministry in Scotland, his early years in the Pacific, etc. Your introductory paragraph should introduce Paton and mention one interesting point about him. This will, essentially, be your essay statement, which will serve to introduce the theme of your essay. For instance: “The noted early missionary to Irian Jaya, John Paton, was greatly influenced as a youth by his devoutly Christian father.”

The body of your essay should provide the details to support your essay statement. In this instance, it would include information about family prayer sessions, his father’s exemplary lifestyle, their dedication to the church and the like.

A concluding paragraph will summarize your details and refer back to your introductory paragraph and essay statement.

Your essay should be written in APA format.

It will count as a major writing assignment (weighted at 50 percent)  toward your first marking period grade.
