What kind of school is Delmarva Christian High School?

Delmarva Christian High School (DCHS) is a non-denominational Christian high school supported by a large number of area churches. DCHS is not a tax-funded charter school.

How many students attend Delmarva Christian High School?

DCHS got off to a fantastic start the first year ending with enrollment of eighty (80) students in grades 9 through 12. This school year began with 185 students enrolled at DCHS.

What type of curriculum does DCHS use?

DCHS teachers have developed an academic curriculum that is unique to the school. The curriculum is classically oriented and taught at the college preparatory level. Partnerships with several universities enable dual enrollment opportunities for juniors and seniors. Academic support for all students is provided through after-school academic coaching. Extra-curricular courses, internships, and J-term activities provide additional educational opportunities for technical and work-related experiences, and mission ministries.

What sports are offered at DCHS?

DCHS is a member of the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA), the Diamond State Conference, and the Eastern Shore Interscholastic Athletic Conference (ESIAC) and began competing in interscholastic sports (except football and wrestling) at the varsity level in 2004. DCHS students have earned All-Conference and All-State honors in the school’s first year of play and the Royal Boys Basketball team has celebrated many ESIAC Tournament Championship wins. Boys basketball, girls basketball, soccer, ladies volleyball, and track teams have also competed in State Championship Tournaments with track bringing home multiple pole vault State champions.

What are the tuition and fees at DCHS?

The mandatory cost for the 2012-2013 school year, to include tuition, testing fees, technology fees, activity fees, and textbook fees, is $7,300. However, this cost does not reflect the actual cost necessary to educate a student. The school underwrites 25% of the educational cost for every student. Needs-based tuition assistance grants are also available to those in need of additional financial support. More than twenty-five percent (25%) of DCHS students receive these additional scholarships.

What kind of certification is required for DCHS teachers?

DCHS teachers must be certified by the state of Delaware (or a reciprocal state) or be certifiable by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

Is DCHS accredited?

DCHS has received dual accreditation by the Commission on Secondary Schools of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Association of Christian School International.

Do DCHS students take the Delaware state test (DSTP)?

No. DCHS students are tested annually with the Terra Nova Achievement Test, 3rd Edition. This tool monitors student achievement and gives valuable feedback to teachers, parents, and students.

Does the school provide transportation?

Transportation is available contingent upon the requirements of the family. Area pickup points are used. DCHS helps coordinate area carpooling.

Do DCHS students have to wear uniforms?

DCHS has a clearly defined dress code that specifies the type and color of clothes that the student may wear. Modesty, professionalism, and appropriateness are the guiding principles to the DCHS dress code.
