Ninety-six golfers tee’d off for a cause on Friday, July 28, participating in the 5th Annual Delmarva Christian Schools (DCS) Golf Classic held at Heritage Shores Club in Bridgeville, DE. The generous support of thirty local sponsors assisted in the success of the tournament helping raise $17,000 towards the DCS Accessible Tuition Program, which provides the opportunity for more families to access an excellent Christ-centered education for their students by calculating a tuition rate that matches each family’s unique financial situation.

Although the weather called for thunderstorms, the golfers enjoyed a dry day on the links, a delicious breakfast and lunch provided by Heritage Shores, a silent auction and mulligan sales raising over $2,500, and an awards ceremony for the group and individual winners of the day.

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s tournament with the score of 55, Thomas Perry, Olivia Perry, Bob Bennett, and Matt Perry. Coming in a close second place with the score of 57 was Chris Theis, Kris Smith, Eddie Downes, and Tony Plummer. Third place was awarded to Dan Schlabach, Harold Sylvester, Adam Troyer, and Dave Miller with the score of 57. There were three individual winners including Longest Drive on hole nine by Olivia Perry, Closest to the Pin on hole seven by Jay Mervine at seventeen feet and a quarter inches (17’4”), and Closest to the Pin on hole fifteen by Joe Moore at three feet and a half inches (3’1/2”).

Delmarva Christian High School Alumni Adam Troyer, Justin Savini, Abbott Wooten, Jeff Mohr, and James Mohr played in the DCS 2017 Golf Classic in order to support their alma mater. Though all in separate foursomes, the five young men took time during lunch to reconnect. Delmarva Christian Schools launched an Alumni Association in 2016 to help graduates stay in contact with their peers and all that is happening at DCS. For more information visit dchs.me/alumni.
