WELCOME TO SPIRIT WEEK!

Hey everyone! We are really excited about Spirit Week, but please make sure that you follow the guidelines laid out below or you will be asked to change your attire! Remember: if you do dress up you MUST bring in an extra set of clothes so that if you are asked to change you are prepared.

Curious about what we’ve done in the past? Here is a link to some pictures of Spirit Week fun the last few years… http://dchs.me/spirit-week/

Monday: My Closet Exploded! day

This is a great – and easy – way to start off Spirit Week! Just dress as wacky and fun (and modest – and NO jeans) as you can.

There’s a great example of this day on this page: http://dchs.me/spirit-week/

Tuesday: Imitate your teacher day
(boys may be only male teachers / girls must be only female teachers)
Students are able to dress up as one of the following teachers:

Miss Pip: answers all the calls, writes all the late notes, sews, loves to cook and serve others… come on, it’s Ms Pip – she’s amazing…

Mrs. Hudson: field hockey coach (if you wear a field hockey skirt you MUST have leggings underneath! Field hockey shirt needs a shirt underneath) math / science teacher, loves to garden, loves to exercise

Miss Bates: loves ultimate frisbee, Duke basketball, hunting / fishing, baseball, scrapbooking, teaches history, is blonde / energetic – and did you see the pink skirt she wore at Chapel?

Mr. Scott: English teacher, loves to wear suspenders, played basketball, amazing photographer and journalist

Mr. Sadler: SWEATER VESTS! Coaches soccer and lacrosse and loves tae-kwon-do. BIG Mac fan (the computers, not the food… though he has been known to eat Big Macs, too!) And those socks… really?!

Mr. Trice: teaches math, sings opera, loves to act, has a great sense of humor

Doc: athlete, wears sweats (no shorts please), doesn’t match all the time, does NOT love technology, always has his Bible, “seasoned” hair :)

Wednesday: Be your grandparent at Chapel day
Students can wear their grandparents / older styles to chapel.
Wigs and glasses are encouraged!

Boys example: leisure suits, vests, corduroy pants etc.

Girls example: old grandma dresses, old skirts, blouses (remember: modesty please!)

Thursday: Be a Holi-day
(get it… Holi-”day”… hahaha)
Students can dress up as their favorite holiday.
(Sorry, not Halloween. And, if you have a question about your holiday choice, please ask first!)

Think of some of the lesser-recognized holidays (like Groundhog day, Columbus day, etc)

Example: Green shirts with attached ornaments (make sure they aren’t glass) for Christmas, come as a turkey for Thanksgiving, Columbus day – really… how cool would that be?!? Be creative!

Friday: Spirit Day
Students can wear their spirit week t-shirts with jeans!
(As always: no jeans with holes or JEGGINGS / SKINNY JEANS, or any other tightly fitting jeans)

And remember:
Have fun, but MODESTY MATTERS!
