Katrina Relief
An exciting opportunity to support those who have been devastated by hurricane Katrina. Students will support the outreach of churches in the Gulfport, MS area through various construction and cleanup projects. Students will be challenged in their faith and encouraged to share that faith with others.

Tonoho O’odham Indian Reservation, Arizona
An intense two-week period of ministry designed to challenge, educate, and train students on the mission field. Students will be introduced to life on an Indian reservation, be involved in evangelism, worship services and outreach to children. There will also be an opportunity for ministry through a construction project and a Spanish immersion experience in Nogales, Mexico.

Girls’ Basketball Mission Trip, Chattanooga, TN and West Palm Beach, FL
The girls’ basketball team will travel to Chattanooga, TN and West Palm Beach, FL to participate in urban missions work and to play basketball. While in Chattanooga the team will work with Hope For Chattanooga and will have the opportunity to do construction work on homes and will work with kids in after school programs. While in Florida the team will play 3 games against Christian high schools in addition to continuing their missions efforts.

Home Missions
Students will be challenged to reach out to various Hispanic communities in the local area. Outreach may include projects and other forms of practical help as an extension of Christ’s love. We will also be working alongside of Eastern Shore Master’s Commission as they teach us Spanish Human Videos in order to minister and outreach within the Hispanic Community of Sussex County. Students will be immersed in those cultures and will be able to exercise their Spanish language skills.

Masterpiece Ministries
Students’ God-given abilities in the performing and visual arts, to include creative writing, are validated as genuine gifts from God. Students are encouraged to pursue excellence in creative expression and performance and to positively impact the community for Christ.

Athletic Training
Exploring the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of the physically active. This course will combine theory, practical labs, and field trips to various athletic training facilities. Students will complete First Aid and CPR training, and achieve basic Athletic Training skills.

Science Olympiad
Students will be given the opportunity to enhance their scientific knowledge and skill by preparing for the Science Olympiad competition at Delaware State University in March 2007. All science disciplines will be available for exploration through hands-on, fun, and challenging events. AP chemistry students will be given foundational instruction in preparation for the Spring 2007 course.

Internships Students will be given the opportunity to explore career related job opportunities through internships and cooperative work agreements with businesses or ministries. Students will be required to coordinate the development of a set of competencies that the students/parents, businesses/ministries, and DCHS agree upon as the curriculum guide and provide a 5-page, APA formatted end of experience paper.

Photography/Videography
Students will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and improve their skills in digital photography and videography. They will learn techniques for adapting to a variety of environments. Possible field trips will include on-location shoots at local J-term sites, nature preserves and parks, and sporting events, as well as trips to local professional studios and intern days with local photojournalists. They will produce sound and slide shows and video documentaries of their work.

Computer Graphics
Students will be introduced to basic design and typographic principles used to produce print materials to include posters for the school as well as personal projects. Printed pieces will be designed and produced using computer layout and illustration software; specifically Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
