DCHS ENTERS AN EXCITING NEW SCHOOL YEAR
Delmarva Christian High School (DCHS) continued its tradition of starting school at noon on its first day, Wednesday August 18, 2010. “This allows us to have our opening chapel, run a mini-schedule of classes, and then prepare for the family BBQ at 5:00 p.m.,” said Susan Gum, DCHS Admissions and Marketing Coordinator. “The BBQ is then followed by an Open House and College Fair. We have found this to be a wonderful way to start the year, build fellowship, and get a lot of things done is an efficient way.” DCHS has seen continued growth as it enters its ...
2010 GRADUATING CLASS KEEPS AN ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE
The recent graduating class of Delmarva Christian High School achieved at least 32.25 credits each, nearly 50 percent more than the State of Delaware requires, according to Principal Scott Kemerling. "They led the way for the classes below them to follow, setting a new standard for perseverance," Kemerling said. "It's not easy to earn a DCHS diploma, and that is something of which they should be very proud." Kemerling said the value of holding students to a higher standard is proven repeatedly by the performance of DCHS graduates in college. "One mother complimented us publicly at our recent orientation session for ...
FROM GEORGETOWN TO GEORGIA
Two seniors graduating from Delmarva Christian High School have been accepted by Georgia Tech (The Georgia Institute of Technology) as incoming freshmen this fall: John Hale and Philip Gordon. Both seniors have chosen rigorous academic paths for themselves, taking college-level calculus and differential equations courses, as well as Advanced Placement Chemistry, both testing out at the highest possible grade. They also have won multiple statewide Science Olympiad awards, Hale in Forensics, Five-Star Science, and a math event called Fermi Questions; Gordon in Circuits, Chemistry, Astronomy, and Environmental Chemistry. And both are pleased to be going off together to one of the nation’s ...
POLE VAULT GIRLS TAKE FIRST AND SECOND IN STATES
Third-year pole vaulters, Kayla Burd and Mallorie Parsons, both juniors at Delmarva Christian High School, battled it out against fellow contenders during the State Championship Meet Friday at Caesar Rodney High School. Parsons jumped into the DCHS history books as she realized a height of 9’6” bringing home a First-Place Division II State Championship medal. “The training I’ve received from Coach Keevan has definitely played a vital role in what I’ve been able to accomplish today,” said Parsons as she reveled in setting a new personal record. “Although I’ve vaulted ...
LADY ROYALS’ LACROSSE SHOOTS FOR VICTORY
Posted on the main doors of Delmarva Christian High School is a sign that reads, “Now, go, and make disciples of all nations.” While some students accomplish this at church or by doing some service of some kind, the members of the Lady Royals’ Lacrosse team fulfill this with grass-stained cleats and well-worn lacrosse sticks. This is a team that does not measure their success by the number of wins or losses they may have, but by how well they represent Christ on and off of the field. As the apostle Paul instructs believers to always work to the best ...

Crowds outside the plane stood by the runway, protesting his trip. He was about to make a discovery of a lifetime, and these religious fanatics didn’t want him to go or else “all would be punished by the sword of fire.” John boarded the plane, not bothering to look back at the crowds protesting. As he sat down in the back of the plane, John saw... [Read more of this review]
It was hazy. I could barely see my hand in front of me, nor could the merchants and the fishermen. The Viking statue was barely visible in the old Ravnkloa fish market. That Viking, Harald Hardrada was his name, stood with victory in his gaze, taking watch over the clock before him and over us down below. That day, however, Harald... [Read more of this review]
